this is church

A church where those far from God can encounter His Spirit in a mighty way.

A church where laughter can be heard for blocks as God’s people are filled with the love of community.

A church where creativity is expressed in everything we do as men and women use their gifts to worship God.

A church where perfection isn’t the goal, but rather Christlikeness is developed.

A church where people don’t give up on people.  There is no ditch deep enough that God can’t pull you out of.

A church where marriages flourish and families thrive.

A church where compassion is never in short supply and encouragement is the native tongue.

A church where justice is demanded and outreach is given.

A church where love, acceptance, correction, mercy, forgiveness and freedom are found that lead to redemption.

A place where you can come tore up from the floor up but not allowed to stay there…because we dare to believe that Christ can actually and literally, transform a life.

This is the Church that I see.  It’s name is Redeemed Life Church.

ESSENTIAL TRUTHS

The BIBLE is the Word of God.

God’s Word is the only completely reliable and truthful authority, and we accept the Bible as our manual for living. Our first question when faced with a decision is, “What does the Bible say?” We practice daily Bible reading and Bible study. The Bible is the basis for all we believe.

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is used to teach us what is true and make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.” – 2 Timothy 3:16 (NLT)

“And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.” – 1 Thessalonians 2:13 (NIV)

Jesus is the Son of God.

We believe Jesus is the one and only Son of God. He came to Earth as a man and after living a sinless life was crucified for our sins… our mistakes, failures, and shortcomings. God then raised Him back to life so that we may have eternal life through Him. Jesus is the second person of the Trinity. He baptizes those who believe in the Holy Spirit. We believe that if we put our trust in Jesus he is faithful. THIS IS AWESOME! It is through his understanding that we are a part of the worldwide body of Christ and call ourselves Christians.

“Jesus answered, ”I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” – 2 John 14:6 (NIV)

“For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says, ‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’ There is salvation in no one else! There is no other name in all of heaven for people to call on to save them.” – Acts 4:11-12 (NLT)

SALVATION comes through Christ.

You must RECEIVE Jesus Christ as your savior to receive salvation in Him. God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but they defied God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need God’s saving grace to end our alienation from Him. Salvation comes only through God’s grace, not human effort, and must be received personally by repentance and faith. Those who confess Him as their Lord and Savior are saved, and considered members of God’s family. In the end, everyone will experience bodily resurrection and judgment. Only believers will enjoy eternal fellowship with God.

“When anyone becomes a Christian he becomes a new person inside. The old passes away, a new life has begun.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17 (LB)

“But to all who believed Him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” – John 1:12 (NIV)

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.” – Romans 10:9-10

“Jesus: ‘If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life.” – Matthew 16:25 (NLT)

The HOLY SPIRIT lives within us.

Believers can be SPIRIT-FILLED and SPIRIT LED. We believe the only way possible to live the Christian life is by God’s power within us. Every believer can be filled with the Holy Spirit upon salvation by simply asking. We seek to practice a daily dependence on God’s Spirit to enable us to do what is right.

“…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…” – Acts 1:8 (NIV)

“…be filled with the Holy Spirit” – Ephesians 5:18 (NLT)

“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven and give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” – Luke 11:13 (NIV)

IN ESSENTIAL BELIEFS, WE HAVE UNITY.

“There is one Body and one Spirit… there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all…” – Ephesians 4:4-6

IN NON-ESSENTIAL BELIEFS, WE HAVE LIBERTY.

“Accept him whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters… Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls… So then each of us will give an account of himself to God… So whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.” – Romans 14:1, 4, 12, 22 (NIV)

IN ALL BELIEFS, WE SHOW COMPASSION.

“…If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but also the very secrets of God, and if I have the faith that can move mountains – but have no love, I amount to nothing at all.” – 1 Corinthians 13:2
